Nobuko is made up of alternating long and short diagonal stitches worked horizontally.

STEP BY STEP

  1. To begin, create a Tent Stitch over one intersection of the canvas.  For your second stitch bring your needle up 2 intersections along and one row  below your first stitch and take your needle down diagonally across 3 intersections of the canvas.  Then stitch another Tent Stitch parallel to the first and continue  alternating to complete your first row.

  2. For your second row place your first Tent Stitch so that it meets with the longer middle stitch of the previous row.

DOUBLE ALTERNATING NOBUKO

Alternate between 2 Tent Stitches followed by 2 longer stitches. Change the direction of the stitches for each row to create a woven effect.
