MILANESE

Milanese is worked in diagonal rows.  It consists of 4 stitches worked diagonally to create a triangle, then repeated.

STEP BY STEP

  1. To begin, make a tent stitch across one intersection in the top left of the area you want to cover.  Below it make your second stitch across 2 intersections.  Make your third stitch across 3 and your fourth across 4.

  2. Repeat this pattern to complete a diagonal row.

  3. For your second row, flip the triangles to face the opposite direction, placing the tip of the triangle  (the smallest stitch) next to the longest stitch in the previous row.
