FRENCH KNOT

A French Knot is a small knot that sits over one intersection of the canvas Although a bit fiddly to master at first, they are very versatile and can be used effectively to add texture to a design when grouped together.

STEP BY STEP
- To begin, bring your yarn up through the canvas at the exact point where you want the knot to be placed. Hold the yarn firmly with your thumb and forefinger in one hand and twist the needle once or twice around it. The more twists you have the larger the knot will be.
- Pull the twists of yarn taut on the needle and then take it (with the twists of yarn) diagonally down over one intersection of the canvas as if making a Tent Stitch.
- Pull the needle and yarn through to the back leaving the knot on top of the canvas.
