STEP BY STEP

  1. To begin, create a Tent Stitch over one intersection. Then bring your needle up next to your first stitch and take it down diagonally across 2 intersections.  The final stitch is another Tent Stitch in the bottom corner of the small square.

  2. To work horizontally, simply create the first Tent Stitch of the next small square parallel to the very first tent stitch.

  3. Start your second row with the first Tent Stitch parallel to the lower tent stitch in the previous row.

MOSAIC DIAGONAL

Mosaic can also be worked diagonally.  Alternate between the tent stitch and the longer middle stitch working downwards, from top left to bottom right.  For your second row place your first tent stitch so that it meets with the longer middle stitch of the previous row.
